With 11 sixes in his unbeaten 200* against Ireland, Kusal Mendis eclipsed Kumar Sangakkara’s record for the most sixes hit by a Sri Lankan in a Test innings.
Sangakkara’s previous mark of eight sixes, which he established against Bangladesh in 2014, was exceeded by Mendis.
Mendis’ innings was a thunderous show of power hitting as he destroyed the Irish spinners.
