Prabath Jayasuriya holds the record for attaining the milestone in the fewest number of games of any spinner, taking 50 wickets in just seven Tests.
On the final day of the second Test at Galle, Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriya broke a record that had stood for 71 years when he removed Ireland’s Paul Stirling and claimed his 50th Test wicket.
Alf Valentine of the West Indies lost the record for the spinner to reach the milestone in the fewest games to Jayasuriya, who reached the 50-wicket mark in in his seventh Test.
