According to a statement from the Paris Club, Sri Lankan authorities formally submitted their request for debt treatment on Tuesday at the first meeting of the official bilateral creditors’ committee.
According to Reuters, the group, which is co-chaired by India, Japan, and France, has 17 members in all, including creditors from the Paris Club and other official bilateral creditors.
The Paris Club members Saudi Arabia and Iran, who have no claims on Sri Lanka, were in attendance as observers, according to the statement.
China took part as an observer at the first meeting of Sri Lanka’s creditor nations on Tuesday.
