Under the NPC project Action for Religious Coexistence (ARC), the training on Preventing Violent Extremism for the new LIRC in Mawanella was held on 11th May 2023 at New Paradise Hotel, Mawanella.
Mr. Naja Yahiya (School Teacher and PVE TOT member from Kandy District) and the project team led the training where 27 males and 15 females representing the Mawanella LIRC participated.
The objective of this training program was to develop the capacity of the Mawanella Local Interreligious Committee in relation to preventing violent extremism. The participants engaged in the program with great enthusiasm and various issues related to violent extremism were discussed.
Thuru Environment Organization has partnered with the National Peace Council as the coordinator of the newly established Mawanella LIRC for the ARC project.
