Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) case on his arrest, but the Supreme Court dismissed it Thursday (16 May).
The Supreme Court’s three-judge panel, made up of Justices Vijith Malalgoda, Yasantha Kodagoda, and Arjun Obeysekera, rendered the ruling. when the information is presented.
President’s Counsel Faizer Mustapha, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, told the court that his client’s arrest was totally against the law because there wasn’t enough evidence to support him at the time of the arrest.
The attorney added that his client’s arrest and imprisonment under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) were illegal as well.
