The X-Press Pearl ship was completely destroyed in a fire in Sri Lankan waters in 2021, and the Attorney General (AG) has filed an action against six defendants in the Singaporean High Court.

As a result, the case conference hearing for the topic was held on May 15; the subsequent one has been set for June, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

Additionally, according to the PMD, the AG’s Department is considering sending the case to the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) in accordance with its procedural norms.

As a result, a Singaporean law firm that has been authorized to represent the Sri Lankan Government by the Cabinet of Ministers will handle the litigation.
