The Sri Lanka Police have opened an investigation to find out who cheered the purportedly offensive remarks made by local stand-up comedian Nathasha Edirisooriya during a recent comedy concert.
Nathasha Edirisooriya was detained yesterday and held without bail till June 7th for making disparaging remarks about Buddhism.
The Police have reportedly started investigations to find people who cheered and laughed along with her remarks.
Police said the investigation will concentrate on finding the person who gave the comic the advice, pointing out that the claims were made on purpose.
The Police have also issued a warning that other arrests may be made in relation with the event in the future.
Many individuals on social media have questioned what legal authority the Police have to interview spectators of the event.
