Yesterday (30), in the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with members of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The President’s Media Division (PMD) reports that the discussion’s main point of interest was the digitalization of data in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector.

The government’s initiatives to modernize the agricultural sector, boost nutrition, combat climate change, and provide financial security must be kept up, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

Officials from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation indicated at the discussion that they would be happy to support these initiatives as long as they adhered to the laws and rules governing financial aid and the use of contemporary technology. They provided pertinent data to back up their position.
