Kanchana Wijesekera, the minister of power and energy, announced today that Sri Lanka intends to extend operations in the future to focus on the international markets for smart electricity meters.
Minister Wijesekera announced on Twitter that Sri Lanka will start producing 3-phase and smart power meters this year.
According to the minister, ANTE LECO Metering Company produces the single-phase meters needed by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) in Sri Lanka.
He claimed that the LECO subsidiary Ante LECO Metering Company (Pvt) Ltd. produces 250,000 meters annually.
According to Minister Wijesekera, the business would increase production of 3-phase and smart electricity meters this year.
