The Paris Club members will meet with President Ranil Wickremesinghe next week, according to Cabinet Spokesman Bandula Gunawardena.
Gunawardena said that the Head of State will meet with the Paris Club creditors on his travel to France and the United Kingdom (UK) to resolve Sri Lanka’s debt crisis. He made this statement during this morning’s (June 13) cabinet briefing.
Earlier this year, the island nation had its first online conference with its creditor countries using a platform that was jointly created by Japan, India, and France; China participated as an observer.
The new framework was introduced by the creditors in Washington, D.C., in April of this year in the hopes that it would serve as a template for resolving middle-income economies’ debt problems.
