Future development initiatives in the nation, according to Minister of Urban Development & Housing Prasanna Ranatunga, shall be carried out in conformity with the National Physical Plan.
On Friday, June 23, he made his comments at a press conference hosted by the Presidential Media Center.
The draft of the national physical plan has already been given to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, according to the ministry. Before taking the appropriate steps for its approval, the plan would be considered by the general public and given to the cabinet, he noted.
Ranatunga emphasized the National Physical Plan will serve as a template for many important development efforts, including the building of motorways around the nation. She also emphasized how it is in line with the President’s vision for the country’s development by the year 2048.
According to the minister, this program would be implemented in the Northern and Eastern provinces, as well as the districts of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, as a two-year experimental project.
