Air China resumes services from Chengdu to Colombo

Air China’s first flight back to Sri Lanka touched down at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Colombo Sunday night with 142 people on board.

As a result, three weekly flights from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport to Colombo will be run by Air China.

On July 3, 2023, Air China began operating three weekly flights from Chengdu-Colombo-Chengdu between Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.

Resuming operations, the first flight with 142 passengers touched down at BIA at 20.20 hours on July 3.

Gift baskets of Ceylon tea and traditional Kandyan dance were given to the passengers as a pleasant greeting.

Along with China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines, Air China Limited is one of the “Big Three” mainland Chinese airlines. It is the flag carrier of the People’s Republic of China.

The headquarters of Air China are located in Beijing’s Shunyi District. Beijing Capital International Airport serves as the primary hub for Air China’s flight operations.

With an average load factor of 81% in 2017, the airline carried 102 million passengers domestically and internationally. the 2007, the airline enrolled the Star Alliance.
