A passenger bus collided with the Kotaleeya Bridge in Manampitiya and fell into the river, leaving 11 people dead and a number of others injured.
According to Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa, a bus traveling from Polonnaruwa to Kattankudy collided on the Kotaleeya Bridge at Manampitiya and overturned into the river.
According to authorities, a number of the bus’s passengers were hurt in the collision and were sent to the hospital.
However,11 people were confirmed dead in the tragedy by authorities at Polonnaruwa Hospital.
