French Naval Ship Lorraine arrives in Colombo

On July 11, the French Naval Ship Lorraine made a ceremonial visit to the Port of Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Navy greeted the ship in accordance with maritime custom.

The 142.20 m long ship is an Air-Defence Multipurpose Frigate, according to the Sri Lanka Navy, and is commanded by Captain Xavier BAGOT. She is staffed with 154 crew men.

The ship’s commanding officer visited Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, commander of the Western Naval Area, today at the headquarters of the Western Naval Command.

The ship’s crew is anticipated to visit a number of Sri Lanka’s tourism destinations while they are there.

On Saturday, July 15, Lorraine is slated to depart the island. Prior to her departure, she will participate in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with a ship of the Sri Lankan Navy off Colombo.
