The Sri Lanka Navy reported that the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Destroyer SAMIDARE arrived at the port of Colombo today (20) on an official visit.
According to naval customs, the Sri Lanka Navy greeted her upon her arrival, the statement stated.
The 151m long Destroyer is used by the JMSDF and has 195 crew members on board. The Flag Officer, Rear Admiral NISHIYAMA Takahiro, and the Commanding Officer of SAMIDARE, Commander OKUMURA Kenji, attend the visit.
The crew of the ship will participate in many programmes run by the Sri Lanka Navy during its visit with the aim of fostering collaboration and goodwill between the two fleets. Additionally, it stated that they should take tourist tours.
On July 29, when the ship is slated to leave the island, she will participate in a photo exercise off Colombo with a Sri Lankan Navy ship.
