During his official visit to New Delhi, President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with Indian billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani.

The Sri Lankan leader has discussed a variety of issues during his meeting with the founder and chairman of the multinational company Adani Group.

In a tweet, Gautam Adani stated that they spoke about a “fascinating” range of Sri Lankan projects, including the ongoing expansion of the West Container Terminal at the Colombo Port, a 500MW wind project, and an expansion of their knowledge of renewable energy to create green hydrogen.

According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), Wickremesinghe also met with Ajit Doval, India’s national security advisor, this morning, July 21, in New Delhi.

On an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the head of state of Sri Lanka arrived in India Friday night (July 20) on a two-day official visit.

Wickremesinghe is making his first trip to the neighbouring nation since taking office in 2022. This year, both nations are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations, which coincides with the visit.
