Today (July 25), according to trade minister Nalin Fernando, the stock of eggs imported from India will be made available on the local market.
Accordingly, Minister Fernando said that starting today, the imported eggs will be offered for sale at all Lanka Sathosa locations for Rs. 35 apiece.
In the meantime, he added, egg cartons will cost Rs. 40 per egg.
Due to the exorbitant pricing of eggs being sold in the local market and a serious shortage, Sri Lanka started importing eggs earlier this year.
