In response to the questions and claims raised by the most recent increase in water rates, the minister of water supply, Jeevan Thondaman, has provided a detailed explanation of the factors that led to this decision.
According to the Minister, a typical Water Board client uses 13.5 units (13,500 litres) per month, which roughly equates to a charge of Rs. 1300 per month under the revised tariff.
The most vulnerable members of our society, Samurdhi and Tenement Garden customers, are exempt from price increases.
