The Supreme Court has removed a lawyer who was found guilty of faking a deed in order to violate the Notaries Ordinance.
The Supreme Court judge bench, which included Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Justice S. Thurairaja, and Mahinda Samayawardena, issued the decision.
After the Central Province High Court registrar complained about the attorney in question, the Supreme Court held a hearing.
As a result, accusations were brought against the attorney, accusing him of creating a false deed on February 5, 1999, in violation of the Notaries Ordinance.
After a protracted trial, the Supreme Court bench ruled that the accused’s name should be removed from the lawyers directory since the allegations against him had been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
