Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sachithra Senanayake was given a global travel restriction on Monday (14 August) by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The Special Investigations Unit of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs was given the go-ahead yesterday (13 August) by the Attorney General’s Department to press criminal charges for alleged match-fixing against the former national team member.
The 38-year-old allegedly called two cricketers competing in the inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL) in 2020 and urged them to ‘fix’ games throughout the competition. He was calling from Dubai.
