The Secretary General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera, emphasised on Thursday (Aug. 17) that the media stories circulating saying that two pillows and a mattress were discovered inside a committee room of the parliament are wholly untrue.
In a press statement, the Secretary-General announced that a committee of three senior officials has been formed to launch a preliminary investigation into the allegations made about the Housekeeping Department of Parliament that were reported in the media on July 30 and subsequent days. She said that an investigation was ongoing.
The declaration was made a few weeks after news stories raised questions about allegations that high officials had sexually assaulted female parliamentary housekeepers.
