According to the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB), there are enough funds available to purchase paddy.
According to the PMB, the government spent Rs. 13 billion on paddy purchases in the previous year. He also said that preparations had been done to turn the paddy stocks into rice and give it away for free to 2.9 million low-income families on the island.
Additionally, the government has allocated Rs. 500 million through the Farmers’ Trust Fund for the purchase of paddy during the “Yala Season.”
As a result, the Paddy Marketing Board has so far spent the aforementioned cash allotment to buy paddy worth Rs. 300 million.
