At the Singhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s preparations for the Asia Cup cricket event got under way today.

The national cricket team will play a practise match tomorrow before departing for Kandy on Sunday, August 27.

Dushmantha Chameera of Sri Lanka is unlikely to compete in the Asia Cup competition owing to a recent injury she got while playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

While waiting to learn about his injury rehabilitation in order to determine whether he can participate at least the final few games of the series, Wanindu Hasaranga is most likely going to miss the first few matches of the Asia Cup tournament.

The Asia Cup cricket tournament’s opening match will take place on August 30 and feature Pakistan and Nepal.

In Pallekele, Kandy, Sri Lanka will take against Bangladesh in the tournament’s opening game on August 31.
