Dayasiri Jayasekara, a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), has been demoted to the position of general secretary and stripped of his party affiliation.
The expulsion was announced in a letter to the legislator from the party’s leader, former President Maithripala Sirisena.
In the letter, it is stated that Jayasekara’s membership in the SLFP has been cancelled as of September 5 and that he is no longer eligible to hold the position of general secretary.
Additionally, a disciplinary investigation into Jayasekara will be carried out in accordance with the party constitution.
