At the next 23rd Council of Ministers’ Meeting, which Sri Lanka will host on October 11, 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka is expected to take over as Chairman of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) for the years 2023 to 2025.

The 25th Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials will take place before the Council of Ministers Meeting.

Sri Lanka is taking up the IORA Chairmanship for the second time; it previously held the position from 2003 to 2004, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The only intergovernmental regional forum that brings together 23 Indian Ocean littoral governments is the Indian Ocean Rim Association. The Association has 11 Dialogue Partners as well.
