A ‘Amber’ (Level 02) landslip early warning has been issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) for a number of locations in the districts of Kalutara and Ratnapura. The warning is in place for 24 hours, ending at 4:00 p.m. today (07).

Meanwhile, various locations in the districts of Galle, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, and Ratnapura have received Level 01 (Yellow) alerts.
Baddegama, Elpitiya, and Nagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions are in the Galle District.
Palindanuwara, Mathugama, and Walallawita Divisional Secretariat Divisions are located in the Kalutara District.
Bulathkohupitiya, Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, Warakapola, Yatiyantota, and Ruwanwella Divisional Secretariat Divisions are located in Kegalle District, whereas Udapalatha Divisional Secretariat Division is located in Kandy District.

Therefore, residents of these locations are recommended to exercise caution because landslides, slope collapses, rock falls, cutting failures, and ground subsidence are all potential hazards.
