Nearly 900 new dengue cases were recorded in the first 10 days of September, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

As a result, the director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne, issued a warning that despite the recent decline in dengue cases reported, the present terrible weather is anticipated to increase the population of dengue-mosquitoes once more due to the growing number of ideal breeding places.

At a Colombo media event, Dr. Ariyaratne provided additional details on this subject, stating that the Western Province is accountable for about 50% of the new cases reported in September.
