1,591 houses inaugurated for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu

On Sunday, MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, officially opened 1,591 homes for displaced Sri Lankan Tamils spread over 13 districts.

The homes, which cost 79.70 crore INR to build, were officially opened by video conference.

The Melmonavur Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee Camp hosted the official opening of the Vellore homes.

Stalin gave the camp’s refugees the keys to 220 homes. The construction cost for this phase in Vellore is reportedly INR 11 crore, according to sources. During his visit, Stalin spoke with the Sri Lankan Tamil community and urged them to care for their brand-new homes in the camp.
