On Monday, September 18, the 14th Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council Meeting was held in Colombo, and the United States and Sri Lanka reaffirmed their commitment to fostering trade and investment partnerships.
Mr. Brendan Lynch, the Acting Assistant United States Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, and Mr. K.J. Weerasinghe, the Chief Negotiator of the Office of International Trade, who represented the Sri Lankan government, co-chaired the technical meeting.
It saw fruitful discussions on a variety of significant problems, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
In their introductory remarks, Julie Chung, the US ambassador to Sri Lanka, and Chandanie Wijayawardhana, the acting secretary to the president, acknowledged the 75th anniversary of the two countries’ bilateral relations.
