Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena cautioned the public that the “Nipah” virus has no impact on this nation and should not inspire unwarranted panic.
He said this during a press conference on the “Nipah” virus that was conducted on Thursday, September 21.
According to Dr. Gunawardena, the ‘Nipah’ virus has been rapidly spreading across Southern India since it was first discovered in Kerala at the end of August of this year.
He noted that the virus outbreak had previously been reported in Bangladesh and noted that there were many viewpoints being expressed in the media at the time in this regard.
