The interim injunction barring Sarath Ekanayake from performing his new duties as General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) following Dayasiri Jayasekara’s dismissal was again extended today (Sept. 22) by the Colombo District Court.

So, according to an order made by Colombo District Judge Sandun Vithana this morning, the interim injunction was extended until October 6th after taking into account a petition submitted by Jayasekara contesting SLFP leader and former President Maithripala Sirisena’s decision to suspend his party membership.

President’s Counsel Faizer Mustapha, who appeared on behalf of the accused former president Sirisena, notified the court that he opposes the pertinent extension decision, and it was then ordered that the objections be filed on the next court date.
