After the joint working group (JWG) led by the two power secretaries accepts the thorough project report, Sri Lanka and India will investigate potential economic models to construct the transmission line connecting the two national electricity grids, according to a top source acquainted with the project.

The technical details have practically been completed by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). Last week, India asked Sri Lanka for additional information on top of what had previously been submitted.

The source claimed that the technical specifications were nearly complete after Sri Lanka provided additional information. The report will eventually be delivered to the JWG.
