At an event conducted in Colombo on Monday evening (25 September), the Chinese oil and gas company Sinopec formally inaugurated its retail petroleum operations in Sri Lanka, signalling a historic energy relationship and investment.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will initially award 150 fuel stations to Sinopec, and 50 additional fuel stations will be built.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera stated in a message on ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, “The energy partnership will strengthen the availability of fuel, the quality of fuel, and the affordability of fuel.”
