Danushka Gunathilaka, a cricketer from Sri Lanka who was recently exonerated in an Australian sexual assault case, has announced that he will bring a legal lawsuit against the Australian State.
The player said he cannot pursue a claim for damages against the woman who accused him under Australian law after arriving in Sri Lanka last night (Oct. 3), after spending 11 months awaiting trial in Sydney.
However, according to Gunathilaka, he can sue the Australian State in civil court to recover damages for his trial-related legal expenses.
The Sri Lankan cricketer stated that he intends to sue the Australian State in the near future.
