Due to the current torrential rains and bad weather, all schools in the Matara region will be closed for two days next week, according to the region Disaster Management Committee.
Schools in the Matara district will be closed on October 9 and 10.
According to Southern Province Education Director Ranjith Yapa, inclement weather forced the closure of schools in the Matara district on October 4 and 5.
The National Building and Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued “Red” landslip warnings for a number of locations in the Matara district.
