Public Security Minister Tiran Alles increased the charges in a special gazette notice that was published on Monday, October 23, in accordance with the rules established under Section 52 of the Registration of Persons Act No. 32 of 1968.

As a result, Rs. 1,000 is the amount charged for the issue of a certified copy of a NIC.

Furthermore, there has been a revision to the prices for the verification of authenticity of the details pertaining to a National Identity Card. As a result, online submissions submitted via the website of the Registration of Persons Department would be subject to a fee of Rs. 25. In the meanwhile, the Commissioner General will accept submissions filed in hard copy or electronically for a charge of Rs. 500.
