Today, the Court of Appeal denied a writ case that was filed contesting State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage’s parliamentary seat.
The goal of the writ petition was to get a ruling that State Minister Diana Gamage was unable to serve as a member of parliament.
The Court of Appeal rejected the appeal when it heard it today, citing the three judges’ majority ruling.
Oshala Herath, a civil activist, filed a writ case contesting the citizenship and eligibility of State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage to serve in Congress.
The petition asks the court to rule that Diana Gamage’s British citizenship disqualifies her from holding office as a member of the Sri Lankan parliament.
