The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) reports that starting tomorrow, November 2, its members want to initiate a series of 24-hour strikes at the provincial level.

GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge made this announcement during today’s news briefing.

The strikes are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and last until 8 a.m. the following day. The GMOA promised that this trade union action will not impact operations at tri-forces hospitals, maternity, cancer, children’s, or nephrology hospitals.

As a result, tomorrow will see a token strike by medical staff at all state hospitals in the province of Uva; in the provinces of Northern, North Western, and Sabaragamuwa, on November 03, 06, and 07, respectively, medical staff will also hold token strikes.
