The rent collecting process for urban low-income households who receive dwellings on an interest basis would come to an end, according to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Rather, the President stated that attempts will be undertaken to give the tenants of each of these residences ownership.
He said that low-income families are renting homes built under various urban development programmes, and they are required to pay a monthly income of Rs. 3,000.
The President stated that about 70% of the nation’s population will own land and homes by the time the programme to grant people’s rights to property and housing is finished.
