The Meteorology Department issues a warning, stating that there is a good chance of thundershowers and intense lightning in a number of locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-Western provinces as well as in the Galle, Matara district.
It added that there would likely be fairly heavy rains over 100 mm in some areas and issued an advice for strong lightning and heavy rain.
The department stated that during thundershowers, there can be brief, localized high winds. We respectfully ask the general people to adopt appropriate safety measures to reduce lightning-related harm.
