A 30-year-old individual was arrested on suspicion of taking possession of firearms after the Beliatta mass shooting. The arrest occurred in Rathgama, Galle.
The shooting on January 23 resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including Saman Perera, the leader of “Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya.” Three suspects were previously arrested, and the investigation continues.
The arrested individuals are believed to have aided and abetted the assailants. The police found a motorcycle and a van linked to the perpetrators, suspected to be used for disposing of firearms and moving discreetly. The investigation is ongoing.
