Early results from Pakistan’s elections indicate candidates affiliated with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party are leading, with 62 seats in the National Assembly.
This is closely followed by contenders from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), led by three-time former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, with 46 seats.
Aljazeera reported that PTI-affiliated candidates are ahead in the race, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also contends for seats. The election oversight body has announced 156 National Assembly results as of late Friday afternoon, shaping the early landscape of the electoral outcome.
