Eighteen Indian fishermen, detained by the Sri Lankan Navy for alleged maritime violations, have been released and returned to Chennai from Colombo.
Welcomed by Tamil Nadu fisheries officials and BJP representatives, they were initially held in a Sri Lankan prison before a local court ordered their release.
The fishermen are en route to Ramanathapuram via a state-provided vehicle.
