Islamic Unity Forum applauds Hassan Moulana, as a national icon in bringing peace among people on his appointment as National Coordinator for Unity

The Islamic Unity Forum congratulates Asseyed Dr. Hassan Moulana Al Qadhiri on his appointment by Minister of Justice Dr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa as coordinator of the Office of National Unity and Reconciliation, which operates under the Ministry of Justice to represent Islam among the interfaith leaders.

As one of the founders of the Islamic Unity Forum, he has been working tirelessly to bring unity among the Muslim community, and his appointment as a coordinator for reconciliation among the ethnic groups of the country at the national level is a recognition of his unity efforts, applauds the forum.

With this appointment by the Minister of Justice, he has got the opportunity to work across the country within all communities to foster National Unity and Reconciliation. He has been serving as the Co-Chairman of the Interfaith Federation for National Unity of Sri Lanka for the past several years and has been involved in the work of building peace in the country along with all other religious leaders.

Dr. Hasan Maulana, who maintains good relations with all sectors of the Muslim community as well as the  other communities, has also served as the Islamic Religious Affairs Adviser to the President of Sri Lanka. Whenever the Muslim community is vilified over the Easter attack, he worked with the country’s leadership to distinguish Zahranism from the Muslim community.

In appreciation of his services to foster in the country, South Asia Regional Peace Envoy Professor G. Jacob Simon of United Nations Peace Ambassador Foundation (UNPAF) ordained him the as a member of the United Nations Messengers of Peace (UNPAF).

The Tamil Social Development Council has recently honored Dr. Hassan Moulana with an honorary peace award in recognition of his efforts to bring unity among ethnic groups in the country for more than 20 years.
