The National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, is set to host its annual ‘Made in Sri Lanka’ trade fair at Arugam Bay in the Ampara District from August 29 to 31. The three-day exhibition will be open to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The event, a key initiative organized annually across the island, is designed to empower local micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) by connecting them with both local and international markets. This year, the fair will feature 60 stalls showcasing a diverse range of high-quality, standardized Sri Lankan products. A special focus will be on newly developed local products, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to forge new business relationships with foreign buyers.
Beyond its commercial purpose, the ‘Made in Sri Lanka’ trade fair is envisioned as a vibrant entertainment festival for the whole family. Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, including sports, cultural performances celebrating lowland traditions, and live music with DJ and calypso sets. The final day will culminate in a grand musical concert.
For food enthusiasts, live food preparation stalls will be set up along the scenic Arugam Bay beach, offering a taste of local culinary delights. To cater to international visitors and facilitate purchases, on-site courier services will be available to handle the delivery of goods to foreign destinations.
The fair is a unique opportunity for rural entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative products and for both local and foreign visitors to experience the rich entrepreneurial spirit and cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.
