The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in some areas.
Meanwhile, several spells of showers are expected in the Northern and North Central Provinces, while showers or thundershowers may develop in parts of the Uva Province and the Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 1.00 p.m.
The Met Department also warned of strong winds ranging from 40–50 kmph at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Western, Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern Provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee District.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
