The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has introduced a 24-hour hotline – 1818 – to assist the government’s newly launched nationwide anti-narcotics initiative titled “United as a Nation – National Drive.”
According to the President’s Office, the new hotline was established following a request from the “United as a Nation” National Operations Committee, which oversees the implementation of the island-wide anti-drug program launched under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The 1818 hotline will allow the public to confidentially provide information related to drug trafficking, distribution, or any suspicious drug-related activities, strengthening public participation in the national campaign against narcotics.
Authorities said the initiative aims to create an effective communication channel between citizens and law enforcement agencies, ensuring swift response and coordinated action to combat the spread of illegal drugs across the country.
