Iran Envoy in Colombo Accuses US, Israel of Attacks; Warns of Escalation

Iran has expressed readiness to assist Sri Lanka at any time, reaffirming strong bilateral ties, according to Iranian Ambassador Alireza Delkhosh.

Speaking at a special media briefing in Colombo, the Ambassador said Iran is prepared to supply oil and other essential goods if requested by Sri Lanka.

He also clarified that Iran has not closed the Strait of Hormuz to friendly nations, emphasizing that the country does not wish to see Sri Lanka face any difficulties and regards it as a highly respected partner.

Recalling past cooperation, Dr. Delkhosh highlighted Sri Lanka’s role in assisting crew members of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Dena, which was struck during an attack, following a formal request for support.

He further noted that the Iranian government is ready to facilitate the return of Sri Lankans currently residing in Iran, should they wish to come back home.
