Today (18) marks 17 years since Sri Lanka brought an end to more than three decades of armed conflict with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

To commemorate the military victory, the National Victory Commemoration Ceremony will be held tomorrow (19) at the Ranaviru Memorial under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The Ranaviru Seva Authority announced that the event will continue the tradition of annual remembrance ceremonies honouring members of the armed forces.

According to the Authority, families of fallen war heroes from the Northern and Eastern provinces will participate in the ceremony for the first time.
