Sri Lanka Police has announced a special traffic plan for Colombo this afternoon (19) in view of the National War Heroes Commemoration Day ceremony to be held under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the War Heroes Memorial.
According to Police, from 3.30 p.m. onwards, traffic leaving Colombo will be restricted at Polduwa Junction, while vehicles entering Colombo will be restricted at Kiyannam Junction.
Motorists will be redirected through alternative routes via Battaramulla, Palam Thuna and Rajamalwatta depending on their direction of travel.
Alternative routes
- Vehicles leaving Colombo via Parliament Road may travel through Polduwa Junction, Battaramulla, Palam Thuna and Kiyannam Junction.
- Vehicles entering Colombo through Kiyannam Junction may use routes via Palam Thuna and Battaramulla.
- Vehicles travelling from Rajamalwatta through Bodhiraja Mawatha can access Battaramulla Road and continue along designated routes.
Police also announced designated parking areas for buses and trucks along sections of Japan Friendship Road.

- From Japan Friendship Road Junction to Kimbulawala Junction.
- From the area near the Ceylon Electricity Board on Japan Friendship Road up to Pelawatta.
Motorists have been urged to follow the traffic instructions to reduce congestion and ensure smooth proceedings during the national event.
